Getting the most out of your score
The score is a quick health-check, not a verdict. Treat it as a starting point — a way to surface gaps you might not have noticed on your own. Real ATS systems vary by employer and role, so use your score to guide what to refine, then tailor the final wording to the specific job you’re applying for.
If the score is strong:your resume already speaks the language of your target industry. Focus next on the format-quality signals — make sure your bullets quantify outcomes, that you’re leading with action verbs, and that the page length matches the convention for your region and seniority.
If the score is moderate:work through the “missing” keywords first. Pick the 5-10 that genuinely describe work you’ve done, then weave them into your bullets using the verb + outcome + measurement pattern. Don’t stuff keywords for their own sake — every term you add should map to real experience.
If the score is light:consider whether you’re targeting the right industry, or whether your resume needs a deeper rewrite. Our long-form guides can help — start with the keyword reference for your industry and the quantified-bullets guide.
