WHY VITAEKIT
A resume builder that doesn’t lie to you
The resume-builder market is crowded. Resume.io, Zety, Canva, Indeed, Resume Genius, Novoresume — all of them work. So why pick VitaeKit? Three reasons: what we built, what we deliberately don’t do, and where we’re honest about being light today.
What we built
Concrete features you can verify on the product today, not roadmap promises:
ATS-tested templates
Every template uses single-column reading order, standard section headings, and embedded selectable text — the three things that decide whether the ATS reads your resume correctly. Tested against the major systems (Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Taleo, iCIMS).
Browse the templates →One-time pricing — no subscriptions
$5 for a single-template 30-day pass, $10 for all templates for 30 days. Each purchase is one-time. Nothing auto-renews, no card is kept on file to charge you later, no 7-day-trial-then-$24/month dark pattern. Cheaper than Resume.io / Zety / Novoresume for one month, and a fraction of the cost over a year.
See pricing →30-day refund before download — fair, not gimmicky
Bought a pass, then changed your mind? Full refund within 30 days as long as you haven't used it to download a watermark-free file yet. And if something went wrong — broken download, wrong template, double charge — we always refund, regardless of usage. We don't pretend to honor 'unconditional' refunds while quietly making them impossible to claim.
Read the refund policy →Free PDF + Microsoft Word export
Pick the format the recruiter actually asked for. PDF is the default and recommended for most ATS systems; .docx is one click away when the job posting specifically asks for Word. No paywall on either format.
Try the editor →Comprehensive guides on resume strategy
ATS keywords by industry, action verbs by category, regional formatting differences, the resume-vs-CV split, career-change strategy, no-experience first-job tactics — written by someone who reads job postings instead of someone trying to game search engines.
Browse all guides →Free editor with no sign-up required to start
Open the editor, paste in your work history, watch the live preview update. Sign-up is required to download — that part is honest, no "100% free, no sign-up" lies — but the editing experience itself is open. Your work saves to localStorage automatically while you draft.

What we deliberately don’t do
The cost of being honest is that we look smaller than the inflated competition. The benefit is that nothing on this site will quietly stop working when Google catches the inflation:
No subscriptions and no auto-renewal
Every payment on VitaeKit is one-time. Your 30-day pass expires on its own; nothing recurs, no card stays on file to charge later, no "cancel any time" maze. The industry-standard 7-day-trial-then-$24/month-forever pattern is hostile to job seekers, and we won't ship it.
No upload of your profile photo to our servers
Face images are unusually sensitive. The right way to handle them is to never take possession in the first place. Your photo lives in your browser only — even when you sign in for cloud sync, the image bytes never leave your device. We never see it, never store it, never back it up.
No upload of your resume content during local edits
While you're editing anonymously, your resume lives in your browser's localStorage. The PDF and Word files are generated client-side. Cloud sync is opt-in (creating an account) and even then we don't sell, share, or train AI models on your resume content.
No fabricated review counts or star ratings
Other resume builders advertise things like "4.8 stars from 200,000 users" with no traceable source for either number. Google's spam policy treats fabricated review data as a manual-action offence; we won't ship aggregateRating until we have real reviews on Trustpilot/G2 with verifiable counts.
No fake "trusted in 50+ countries" stats
Unverifiable scale claims are common across the resume-builder industry. We track 9 regions, a full catalog of templates, and PDF + Word export — every numeric claim on the site maps to a file or function a reviewer can grep for.
No dark patterns on the export step
Some builders gate the export behind a paywall after you've finished editing. We tell you up-front: free downloads carry a small watermark, watermark-free downloads require one of the $5 or $10 passes. No surprise paywall after you've already invested an hour drafting.
Where we’re light today
The honesty principle cuts both ways. Things we don’t yet have, with a clear note on when each unblocks:
No verified reviews on Trustpilot or G2 yet
We're collecting our first set of real reviews. We won't seed fake ones to bridge the gap (Google's manual-action policy makes that an existential risk). If you've used the product and want to leave an honest review, we'll link the platforms we use here once they're set up.
Some templates are paid
Free: editing in every template, Classic downloads (with a small "Made with vitaekit.com" watermark), PDF + Word export. Paid: one-time $5 unlocks any single template for 30 days, watermark-free, with customisation and photo upload; $10 unlocks all templates for 30 days. The core editor stays free forever — we only charge to remove the watermark and broaden template choice.
AI features are deferred until a real provider is wired
We don't sell AI bullet rewriting or AI-scored ATS analysis right now. We've built the surfaces, but the underlying provider returns canned output today, so shipping the UI would be selling you a promise we can't keep. When we wire a real LLM provider, the features come back and we'll be honest about credit costs — never bundled into a "trial" that auto-charges.
No social-proof testimonial wall
No stock-photo "Sarah, Software Engineer" testimonials. We'll add real testimonials when we have a meaningful number of named users willing to be quoted by name with their LinkedIn link.
